Step back into the dark patent medicine era with our meticulously crafted, handmade replica of the infamous Radithor bottle. This striking piece captures the essence of the original, embodying the mystique of a time when radiation was touted as a miracle cure. From around 1925 to about 1930, Radithor was produced by the Bailey Radium Laboratories of East Orange, N.J. It was made from triple-distilled water and at least 1 microcurie each of Ra-226 and Ra-228. Radithor was advertised as "eternal sunshine" and was said to cure over 150 "endocrinologic illnesses" from pain to tiredness, and even impotence in men. Bailey Radium Laboratories claimed that Radithor was completely harmless. The deaths of many including the horrific death of Pittsburgh millionaire Eben Byers in 1932 proved that this claim was false.

Byers consumed Radithor daily after it was prescribed to him to treat a broken arm in 1927. He said it made him feel energized and seemed to heal him. He liked the "energizing" effect so much, that he consumed over 1400 bottles of Radithor from 1927 to 1930. By the end of his life, his jaw had fallen off and his bones were full of holes as they disintegrated from the incredible levels of radiation in his body. Byers' corpse is buried in a lead-lined coffin in Allegheny Cemetery to protect onlookers from the radiation still emitting from his bones...

Shortly after Byers died in 1932, the FTC had a cease and desist order issued to stop the sale of Radithor in the United States. Any bottles remaining on store shelves were confiscated and destroyed. This, coupled with the short sales window (1925 to 1931) and the low production amount of roughly 400,000 bottles, makes finding an authentic bottle of Radithor very difficult and expensive. Not to mention the potential health risks you could be exposing yourself to by owning an item with radioactivity.

Add our Radithor bottle to your collection today so you can appreciate the history of this tragic item without any of the health risks or drain on your wallet!
