Captured 1/9/2016 at the New York Monument on Little Round Top in Gettysburg, PA.

History:

Little Round Top is a key landmark on the Gettysburg Battlefield, famous for its strategic importance during the Battle of Gettysburg in July 1863. It was the site of intense fighting on July 2, when Union forces under General Gouverneur K. Warren held the high ground against Confederate forces led by General Robert E. Lee’s army. The Union’s successful defense of the hill played a pivotal role in the outcome of the battle and, ultimately, the Civil War.

The area is marked by a monument to the 44th New York Infantry, and the landscape still bears the marks of battle, with large rock formations and preserved artillery positions.

Little Round Top is considered one of the most haunted locations on the Gettysburg Battlefield, due to the intensity of the fighting and the high number of casualties.
