Squeezebox Charlie is a mid-century rubber clown squeeze toy, composed of a bulbous air bladder attached to a disturbingly lifelike clown head. When the bulb is squeezed, a high-pitched squeal escapes from within—and the noisemaker lodged in Charlie’s mouth extends outward with a sudden, snapping motion, as though he's still trying to speak.
 
Despite his decades in storage, Charlie’s mechanism still functions. The squeaker is sharp and shrill, and the paper noisemaker still shoots from his mouth when triggered, with just enough force to startle the unsuspecting.
