This charming mid-century souvenir plate captures the golden age of Dorney Park, one of America's oldest amusement parks, with a vibrant image of its most iconic mascot: Alfundo the Clown. Framed in a bold yellow circle at the center, Alfundo grins eternally—a smiling specter of Pennsylvania’s thrill-filled past.

Dorney Park, nestled in Allentown, Pennsylvania, traces its roots back to the 1860s when Solomon Dorney opened his fish hatchery and later transformed the grounds into a summer resort and amusement area. By the 20th century, it had blossomed into a beloved regional destination of wooden coasters, picnic groves, and old-fashioned carnival charm.

Alfundo—whose name was a portmanteau of “Allentown,” “fun,” and “do”—first appeared in the 1960s as the park’s colorful, wide-eyed ambassador. With his round face, oversized features, and unmistakable hat, Alfundo became a fixture in park marketing, souvenir shops, and the childhood memories of countless visitors.

Condition: This plate is in excellent vintage condition with no cracks or chips, showing only minor signs of wear appropriate for its age.  There is a slight indent in the paint within the word "Dorney" (see pictures). The colors remain vivid.

A rare and playful artifact from a bygone era of American amusement, this plate is perfect for collectors of park memorabilia, clown ephemera, or anyone haunted (fondly or otherwise) by Alfundo’s unforgettable face.
