There are no limbs—only the marks where they once were...
This antique doll is a study in discomfort: her arms and legs are long gone, and in their place, the openings have been crudely sewn shut with thick, uneven stitches. The fabric around each closure is stained, pulled tight, and puckered, as if done in haste… or by an unsteady hand.
Her glass eyes open when she’s raised and close when she’s laid down, the motion unnatural in its precision. The still-functioning crier, a rarity in dolls of this age and condition, emits a strained, breathy sound when she is tilted. Not quite a cry. Not quite a breath. Just noise—shrill and haunting.
She wears a bonnet, aged and stiff, tied tightly under her chin. The fabric is thin and fraying at the edges, but still holds its shape—much like the doll herself. Time has not been kind to her, but it has not been able to destroy her either...
There’s no history included with this piece. No name. No origin. Just the doll, and the sound she makes when the room falls quiet. Good luck.
